Privacy Policy

InfographicHQ (“we”, “us”) runs infographichq.com and is responsible for the personal data it handles. The product turns the topics, notes and articles you give it into finished infographics. We keep this policy short, plain, and honest. The one-sentence version: what you submit is used to make your infographics - nothing else - and we never sell your data.

What we collect

  • Account details - your email address and an optional name. We sign you in with a link sent to your email address, so there is no password for you to set.
  • Teammates - on Pro, the email address of each person you invite, which we use to send them the invite, and which of you made each infographic. A teammate shares the account's infographics, brands and credits, and the account's owner can see each teammate's name and email address.
  • What you submit - the topic, notes or article text you type or paste in, and the outline you edit and approve. If you give us a link to an article, we fetch that public page and use its words the same way.
  • Your brand - the logo and footer icon you upload, your footer line, web address and brand colour. Uploaded logos are stored so that we can place them on your infographics. When you give us a website (or a work email address), we may fetch that site's public logo, colours and fonts to suggest them; we only use what you choose to keep.
  • Generated infographics - the images we create for you, saved to your private gallery together with the outline behind each one, so you can re-edit it. If you switch on "Show in public examples" for one and we approve it, that picture and its title are shown on our website until you switch it off.
  • Payment records - payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details go directly to Stripe and never touch our servers; we keep only the purchase record (amount, plan or credits, date) and the identifiers Stripe gives us for your customer record and subscription.
  • Technical data - IP addresses (used for abuse prevention and rate limiting), the country your account was created from, where you first came from (the campaign tag in the link, the referring site and the landing page, with your OK where that is needed), cookies, and the visit counts Google Analytics keeps (see Cookies below).
  • Product usage - a few steps you take in the product, such as editing the words, changing the style or opening the plans, recorded against your account or the anonymous identifier. We also keep page-speed measurements and reports of errors in the page, which carry no account, address or identifier.

Why we may use it

  • To provide the service you asked for (contract): your account, what you submit, your brand files and your infographics, and the emails that deliver them.
  • Because the law requires it (legal obligation): payment and tax records.
  • Where it is in our legitimate interests, or with your consent where that is required: tips and offers by email, preventing abuse of the free infographic, counting visits with Google Analytics, noting where you first came from, and seeing which steps of the product people use or get stuck on, so we can fix them.

How your content is processed

An infographic is made by AI models that we do not run ourselves. They are run by OpenAI, so making one means sending your text to OpenAI. It is sent over an encrypted connection, and only for these two jobs:

  • Writing and checking the words. The topic, notes or article text you submit, and any change you ask for, is sent to OpenAI's language model to draft your outline. For a free infographic, the same model also checks the words for abuse before anything is drawn. Once the image is made, the model reads it back and compares it with the text you approved. That is how every infographic is proofread.
  • Drawing the image. The outline you approved is sent to OpenAI's image model to draw the body of the infographic. OpenAI checks each drawing request against its own safety rules and may refuse one. If it does, we ask you to change the wording, and you are not charged.

Your logo, footer icon and footer details are not sent to any AI provider. They are added to the finished image by our own code.

OpenAI's published rules for its API say that what we send is not used to train or improve its models unless the sender opts in. OpenAI may keep what we send for up to 30 days to check for abuse, or longer if the law requires it or if that is reasonably necessary to protect its services or other people from harm. You can read OpenAI's own description on its API data controls page.

We do not use what you submit, your logos or your infographics to train any models, we do not use them in our marketing, and we do not share them with anyone except the processors needed to run the service. Please do not paste in anything you are not free to share with those processors, such as confidential material belonging to somebody else.

What we never do

  • We never sell or rent your personal data or your content.
  • We never use your content for advertising or model training.
  • We never run third-party ad trackers on this site.

Cookies

Four of our own cookies are essential: one that keeps you signed in, one anonymous identifier that remembers a visitor's free infographic, one short-lived cookie that remembers the page you were heading for when we asked you to sign in, and one that remembers your cookie choice. With your OK, one more (ihq_ft) remembers how you first found us for 90 days: the campaign tag in the link, the site that linked here (its name, not the page) and the first page you saw. We save that on your account when you make one, and on your plan with Stripe if you buy one. Stripe sets its own cookies on its checkout pages. There are no advertising cookies.

We use Google Analytics to count visits: which pages are read, and the device and country they come from. It sets cookies of its own to do that. In the UK, the EEA and Switzerland it loads only after you press Ok, and so does the cookie that remembers how you first found us; elsewhere both start after your first interaction with a page. Your choice is kept for 6 months, and you can change it any time with Cookie settings in the footer. Nothing you type into the product, and none of the infographics you make, is sent to it.

Email

We email you sign-in links and messages about your account: for example when an infographic is ready, when a download of your infographics that you asked for is ready, when credits are about to expire, or when a payment fails. We also send a few tips and offers, such as a reminder that your free infographic can be unlocked.

Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link, and it stops the tips and offers. Ready emails stop when you turn them off in Account. Sign-in links, your free infographic, warnings before top-up credits you paid for expire, and messages about your plan, payments and refunds are sent regardless, because they are part of the service you asked for.

Storage and retention

Your infographics, the outlines behind them and your brand files are stored securely for as long as your account is active, so your gallery stays available to you and past work can be re-edited. You can delete an infographic or a brand at any time. Purchase records are retained as required for accounting and tax purposes.

An infographic you delete goes to Recently deleted in your gallery first, where you can restore it for 30 days. After that it is removed for good, together with the outline behind it. Delete now, in Recently deleted, removes it straight away. A download of all your infographics that you ask for is kept for 7 days, then deleted.

A free account with no plan and no sign-in for 12 months is deleted, together with its infographics and brand files.

Who we share data with

Only the processors required to operate the service: OpenAI (the AI models that write and check the words and draw the infographic), Stripe (payments), Resend (email), our hosting and storage providers (infrastructure), and Google Analytics (visit counts only). Each receives only what it needs to perform its function.

These providers are in the United States. Transfers rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and its UK Extension, or on Standard Contractual Clauses.

If you make a share link for an infographic, anyone with the link can view it, and download it unless you turn that off, until the link expires or you stop sharing. Links expire after 30 days. The shared page shows that infographic, its title and any post you wrote for it, and never your email address or anything else from your account.

Your rights

You can access, correct, export, or delete your data - including every infographic, outline and uploaded logo - at any time by emailing [email protected]. You can also download all your infographics, and delete your account, yourself from the account page. Account deletion ends any plan and removes your infographics, brands and gallery permanently. Depending on where you live, these rights may be backed by laws such as the GDPR or CCPA; we honour them for everyone regardless of location. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) or your local data protection authority.

Security

All traffic is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Sign-in links expire, and anyone who opens one is signed in to your account, so do not forward them. Access to your infographics and brand files is restricted to your account, except an infographic you choose to share with a link. No system is perfectly secure, but if we ever become aware of a breach affecting your data, we will notify you promptly.

Children

The service is not intended for anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date above and, for significant changes, notify you by email or an in-app notice.
